The movie begins six years later with a massive earthquake striking downtown San Francisco, and the scene shifts to the City of Angels. Two young lovers are having a candlelit dinner in a restaurant when their conversation is cut short when the ground begins to shake. The family checks outside and can see outside their house, but they cannot hear anything for what seems like an eternity. They watch as an enormous wall of water washes through their home and several other buildings in the area. When the wave finally dissipates, they find themselves in a devastated area. It's clear that an earthquake has struck and damaged part of LA. Bryce Harper, one of the stars of "San Andreas", revealed his thoughts about the upcoming movie. "We're all excited for this movie," he said. "It's going to be crazy." The second scene is at the Golden Gate Bridge where it is shown that there are no cars in sight on both sides of the bridge. There are also no people on top of the bridge either, showing how massive an earthquake must have been to make everything fall apart in 6 years without people noticing or getting out of its way. In the third scene, a mother is told by her husband to grab their son and run. They quickly exit their home and jump onto a tanker truck to escape the rising waters, but as they try to do so, the truck rolls into a massive wave of water. As they struggle to stay afloat, the mother gets knocked unconscious and she wakes up in a pool of water. The son grabs her and swims towards an elevated freeway and slowly manages to swim up onto the highway. Meanwhile, there is also a huge wave hitting Los Angeles beach areas as well as downtown LA area as well which results in injuries among those caught off guard at those areas.
